As announced by his family, French director Jacques Deray died overnight in his home in a suburb of Paris. He was 74.
Jacques Deray was famous for his thrillers and police dramas, as well as for the nine films he made with Alain Delon – including 1969's «The Swimming Pool» with Romy Schneider. In the 1970's Deray made movies such as «Cop Story» (1975) and «Borsalino» (1970) with Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo. As announced by Deray's family, the director died at home in Boulogne-Billancourt. Deray was born in 1929 in Lyon. As a young man he studied acting in Paris, prior to becoming an assistant director (for Luis Bunuel, among others). French president Jacques Chirac stated that France has lost one of its most talented filmmakers.
