2.5 billion loss
Do, 21.02.2008, Constantin Xenakis
From its beginning on November 5 to its end just a few days ago, the writers' strike has cost the region of Los Angeles almost $2.5 billion.
This according to a study released by Jack Kyser of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. Kyser convinced the repercussions have been underestimated.
Kyser's total includes the salaries of employees of cancelled TV series and halted productions, as well as the lost revenues of florists, limousine rental companies and set caterers.
The cancellation of the Golden Globes ceremony alone lost $60 million.
Kyser also notes things could get worse - the Screen Actors Guild may strike starting on June 30.
