Tourism on the rise thanks to Borat
Do, 06.12.2007, Constantin Xenakis
Since the release of «Borat», tourism in Kazakhstan has shown a substantial jump.
This according to the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Temirján Dosmujanbétov. Kazakh authorities initially threatened to sue English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen for showing their country and its inhabitants in an unrealistically bad light.
While this may be good news for Baron Cohen, there is other bad news: the instructor who gave Cohen driving lessons in the movie has sued for $100,000 in damages, arguing he had agreed to be filmed only if it was for a documentary about the American way of life.
This suit can be added to the many others filed by people appearing in «Borat», who hadn't realized what Baron Cohen was aiming for during filming: making a hilariously devastating movie!
