The directorial debut of Ben Affleck, «Gone Baby Gone», gets rave reviews in Deauville.
After a series of flops («Gigli»), uninteresting big budget productions («Pearl Harbor», «Daredevil», «Paycheck») and a very visible relationship with Jennifer Lopez it seemed, not too long ago, that the career of Ben Affleck was in serious decline.
But the actor has since made better choices. He won the Volpi Cup for best actor in Venice last year for his work in «Hollywoodland», and now Affleck has bewitched critics and the public at the Deauville film festival with his directorial debut. According to the well-respected Hollywood Reporter, «Gone Baby Gone» is nothing less than one of the best film noir movies of the decade.
Adapted from the novel by Dennis Lehane, the author of «Mystic River», starring Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris and Casey Affleck, «Gone Baby Gone» is due out in Swiss theatres on November 7.
