Brad Pitt plans remake of East of Eden

Brad Pitt is seriously thinking of remaking the cult film «East of Eden». In 1955 director Elia Kazan successfully made a movie version of the John Steinbeck novel. Now Pitt is negotiating with Steinbeck's heirs for the rights to the book.

Brad Pitt wants to do a remake of the cult film «East of Eden», but he's not alone. Since US talkshow host Oprah Winfrey publicly recommended John Steinbeck's classic novel, it has shot to the No. 2 spot on Amazon's bestseller list. In true Hollywood style, various producers are now trying to cash in on the craze, including Brad Pitt and his wife Jennifer Aniston - although it has not yet been determined whether Pitt would also star. James Dean had the lead in the original and died a few days after the premiere in a car crash.
