Los Angeles, the City of Angels and demons. Jesse, an orphan of 16 and of diaphanous and angelic beauty, wants to become a model. Spotted by an agency, she befriends Ruby, a makeup artist, who introduces her to Gigi and Sarah, two models who know the scene. But the beauty of the innocent Jesse, which gains her big favors and takes her at lightning speed to the catwalks, eventually is the source of envy and jealousy...

Those who were repelled by Only God Forgives, Nicolas Winding Refn’s second film starring Ryan Gosling, be warned: The Neon Demon leans more towards abstraction and extreme violence than the phenomenally subtle Drive. Armed with a fascinating power since Drive, Refn has made a horror movie full of raw flesh, a whirl of lights and a kaleidoscope of glitter. This bloody and creepy odyssey into the mysteries of beauty is an irresistible pleasure, thanks to the sensational atmosphere and soundtrack. It is difficult to define and takes pleasure in confusing the audience. Provided you let yourself go, The Neon Demon is like a fabulous waking nightmare, sensual and absurd, illuminated by the beauty of Elle Fanning and her blood sisters.
