After eluding the FBI during a sensational case, the Four Horsemen live hidden, awaiting instructions from the Eye, the secret society of magic. A year later, they return to trap an unscrupulous businessman. But Daniel, Merritt, Jack, Dylan and newcomer Lula are caught in their own trap by another magician, Walter Mabry. When asked to rob a valuable computer system capable of changing the world, they have no choice but to obey...

Now You See Me 2 is the perfect example of an unnecessary sequel ordered for purely economic reasons following the unexpected success of the first. No surprise, then, that the movie is heartbreakingly bland, satisfying itself by merely nudging the worn limits of the original, which already struggled with weaknesses. Director Jon M. Chu, who replaces Louis Leterrier, deploys a plethora of special effects to bring some spectacle to the story, along with an army of talented actors. But the script reads like a bad Hollywood plot with a dive down the rabbit hole that is far too stupid to be fun. Except for the presence of Lizzy Caplan, who struggles to bring some freshness to an under-written role (and the only main character without a last name!), Now You See Me 2 offers nothing; it has nothing to say and nothing to show.
