Agathe (Isabelle Huppert), director of the Fondation d'Art Contemporain Cartier in Paris, and Patrick (Benoît Poelvoorde), an impecunious Walloon factory worker, have only one thing in common: their sons go to the same school and are good friends. She is just as cold and uptight as he is coarse and clumsy.
