The Karate Kid
An Afro-American boy and his mother move to Beijing. Remake of the eponymous 80's movie.
Dre, an Afro-American boy with discipline problems moves from Detroit to Beijing with his mother. Once there, the adolescent meets various people in his new neighborhood: another American boy, a charming girl who plays the violin, a gang of thugs who keep beating him up and humiliating him, and Mr. Han, the handyman in his building. One day, Mr. Han rescues him from the gang's fists and decides to teach him Kung Fu...
Remake of the 80's movie of the same name, which became one big ad for Japan's national sport, karate. This time around, it's a puff piece promoting history, kung fu and Chinese culture, while of course making sure not to criticize any of the country's imperfections. Produced by Will Smith, starring his clone of a son and the very Sinophile Jackie Chan.
