A journalist from London named Tamara Drewe returns to her family home in Dorset after the death of her mother. Now light years away from the adolescent ugly duckling the villagers used to make fun of at the time, Tamara has become hot and sexy, thanks mainly to some successful cosmetic surgery and great wardrobe. Her return to her roots turns many heads, awaking jealousy and desire in the inhabitants of and visitors to the usually peaceful village in the English countryside...

Lies, betrayal, affairs and career ambitions come together in this wonderful piece of rural vaudeville by Stephen Frears, who has adapted the graphic novel by Posy Simmonds, itself inspired by Thomas Hardy's «Far From the Madding Crowd». Starring Emma Arterton, the delicious former Bond girl from Quantum of Solace and the plucky princess from Prince of Persia.
