Going the Distance
A couple from either side of the US try to maintain a long-distance relationship
Erin and Garret meet when Erin comes from San Francisco to New York for six weeks. Aware they live too far apart for a real relationship, they decide to enjoy a summer fling. But when Garret takes her to the airport they realize they don't want it to end, so they continue their relationship on the phone, despite their skeptical friends and family. But that doesn't really work either, so the next step is to figure out whether one of them will move to the other's city.
This romantic comedy falls victim to adolescent humor, dumb gags, and lame dialog. It doesn't seem to know whether it wants to be a women's movie or a Judd Apatow clone along the lines of Knocked Up, but is ultimately saved to some degree by the charms of its star, Drew Barrymore.
