Image galleryA thousand years ago, Parnassus, a wise old man at the head of a traveling theater company, made a deal with Mr. Nick, the Devil in person, in exchange for immortality: on her 16th birthday, Parnassus' daughter will belong to the diabolical Mr. Nick, body and soul. As the date nears, Parnassus strikes a new deal with the Lord of Darkness: if he succeeds in saving five souls in his Imaginarium - the centerpiece of his company's show, a sort of parallel world accessed through a mirror - before his daughter's birthday, Parnassus will not only save his offspring but be free of all obligations towards Mr. Nick. But in a London plagued by alcoholism and cynicism, old fashioned shows struggle to find their audience. Until the day Parnassus comes across a young man hanging off a bridge, left for dead, saves him and decides to take him in. This boy, Tony, soon joins the company and suggests improvements for the show, reluctantly accepted by a preoccupied Parnassus, pressed by time. Ex-Monty Python and cursed director Terry Gilliam once again proves his boundless imagination. In this dense and colorful tale, he directs the late Heath Ledger, deceased during the shooting, Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell, who came to the rescue for the part of Tony, as well as Tom Waits and Verne Troyer in a "real" part, far from his caricatural appearances such as the likes of Mini-Me in "Austin Powers".
