Soeur Sourire

In 1963, a light-hearted and cheerful song about the founder of the Dominican church becomes such an unlikely hit that it is compared to the Beatles' debut. Its author: a strong-tempered Belgian nun. Fifteen years after a biopic on Flemish priest Adolf Daens, Belgian director Stijn Coninx recounts the biography of Jeanne Deckers, rechristened Sister Luc-Gabriel and better known under her stage name, the Singing Nun, from her life before her voluntary entry in holy orders to her confrontation with the Church and her downfall.
