A bus leaves the train station in Beirut for the prison in Mermel, in the Lebanese hinterland. The dusty vehicle is taking women to visit their husbands, brothers and sons on this national holiday, but the driver is hit in the head by a stray bullet in the middle of the desert. Left to themselves, the women scatter along the dangerous roads. Three of them, all from different regions and of different ages, decide to stick together. They find themselves confronted head-on by the violence and apathy raging endlessly throughout their country. The women, each in their own way, are also transformed by their difficult quest for liberty. Go to movie review
