Air Doll - Kûki ningyô
Nozomi lives at home with Hideo, a waiter who loves her very much. He pays attention to her when he's home and makes love to her as often as possible. The only unusual thing is that Nozomi is an inflatable sex doll. One morning, she wakes up and realizes she has become human. Putting on the maid's uniform Hideo bought her, she goes out into the world, observing everyone and learning what it means to be a real person. She loses her innocence but discovers new possibilities when she gets a job in a video rental store and falls in love with a co-worker. A wonderful story about what it means to be human from Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda.
