School of Rock
Comedian Jack Black ("High Fidelity") slips into a leather jacket as rock musician Dewey Finn, who gets kicked out of his band and sinks into debt and depression. Finn fakes his way into a job as a substitute teacher at an exclusive school and promptly tries to turn his nerdy fifth graders into a rock band. Black, who is a talented musician and singer as well as an actor, obviously sold his soul to rock and roll ages ago. Director Richard Linklater infuses the somewhat weak plot with the exact mix of humour, sentimentality, raunchiness and intelligence.
